The purpose of this project was to create a flyer that would be pasted throughout the hallways of a university campus. The Wellesley College Art Club wanted to recruit male models for figure drawing sessions (because they already had a surplus of female models).
2. My Approach
I knew that the flyer would have to compete with many other fliers of similar sizes on cluttered walls. Therefore, I wanted to use bright, eye-catching colors and a bold slogan. Ultimately, I decided to place "Naked Man Wanted" at the top of the poster in a large, all caps font. I wanted it to catch the attention of those walking by. I chose warm colors for the text and figure and blue for the background in order to increase the contrast.
For one of our figure drawing sessions, we had three models at once. The image above would be sent through e-mail as an attachment. Because this event featured three male models, I decided to create a humorous flyer that poked fun at how male models are considered a scarcity at a women's college.
3. Final Results
Placing the original "Naked Men Wanted" flyers around the university campus resulted in us gaining many interested models and we had to turn down many of them because we could not schedule all of them to model during the semester.
The second flyer resulted in a full attendance at the figure drawing session.
